Allan has been photographing cars, boats, trucks, and airplanes, real and otherwise, most of his life. His latest series is called "Toys After Time" and is the result of experimenting with multiple and long exposure times and a lighting process known as split diffusion. This series of toy portraits will conjure up old memories of simple toys and treasures. Recalling his fascination with toys, Allan explains—
"When I was a child, I would, more often than not, take several of my favorite toys to bed with me as I prepared to venture into the night. Long after goodnight hugs, I would get down to the business of serious playtime. My pillow, blanket, and sheets would become forts, mountain ranges, the ocean, or perhaps a dusty road to who–knows–where. My room became a world unto itself. With my head pressed to the pillow and my eyes squinting tightly, my cars, trucks, airplanes, and trains took on massive proportions. They became, at least in my minds eye, the real thing."
